Transsexualism
Transsexual politics is nowhere near the norm during 1966 in San Francisco. It comes to attention when transgendered hustlers picket and rebel against harassment that officers cause at Gene Compton’s Cafeteria. Harry Benjamin, a medical expert on transsexuality, the Erickson Educational Foundation, supporter of medical services for transsexuals, and ministers at Glide Memorial Methodist Church along with other numerous programs establishes all kinds of supportive programs which becomes widely available to transgenders. Work training programs taught prostitutes how to get out of such hazardous lifestyles. In 1967, C.O.G. (Conversion Our Goal) turns into the National Transsexual Counseling Unit and later on the Transexual Counseling Service, both the Erickson Educational Foundation supports.
